Spring 2026 Incoming Students

I live in Lake Stevens, Washington, where I was born and raised. I serve at Elim Lutheran Church, the church I have attended since I was a baby. My journey in ministry began with attending the AFLC’s Free Lutheran Bible College in Plymouth, Minnesota, where I became passionate about youth ministry. I have been a youth director for five years now, and a young adult and family ministry director for three years. The greatest joy of my life is my beautiful wife, Cassie. We have been married for nearly three years. Our first child, Tatum, was born less than a year ago. Before God drew me to full-time ministry, I was a personal trainer and nutritionist. I am a basketball coach, an avid gamer, a Star Wars fan, and a competitive natural bodybuilder.

My call to ministry came after a car accident. I was in a dark place in my life post-Bible School after just becoming a Christian during school. I was dealing with the sudden death of my mom and a life change. I ended up in a head-on collision, which shook my soul. I promised God I would serve him every day with my legs after that. From there, I went through a long and difficult process of figuring out my faith and who God was to me, but I had a hunger for healing and to serve God. That hunger has not changed, and I am grateful to be a part of the Lutheran Brethren Seminary pursuing pastoral ministry.

I live in Milwaukie, Oregon. I am a mother of two children. I am originally from northern Cameroon and moved to the United States in 2008 to pursue higher education.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development from Portland State University and a Master’s degree in Global Development and Justice from Multnomah University. My education and work reflect my desire to serve God locally and globally by supporting individuals, leading community efforts, and building bridges across systems and cultures.

I grew up in a missionary family. My parents, Silas and Madeleine Lapeubé, served as church planters in Islamic regions of West and Central Africa through the CLB Church and an organization called Joint Christian Ministries in West Africa. My father also founded the Harvester Bible School in Maroua, Cameroon, to train local believers with a focus on reaching out to Islamic communities. This upbringing shaped my faith and sense of mission.

I later served with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in the children and youth ministry and with Loom International, focusing on economic development in East Africa. After leaving ministry work, I served in the secular sector until recently.

My faith journey includes a season of deep healing after a difficult marriage. God used that time to grow compassion in me for women facing similar challenges. For the past four years, I have been part of a gospel-centered support group for survivors of domestic violence.

We previously attended the CLB church in Portland until it closed. We are currently members of Word of Life LB in Marysville, Washington; and while living in Oregon, we attend Sunset Presbyterian Church in Beaverton.

Today, I sense a growing call to serve with LBIM in Cameroon and Chad. Seminary is my first step as I continue to learn, listen, and follow God’s leading. I am trusting God with the timing and next steps and would appreciate prayers for strength, understanding, wisdom, and joy as I embrace this new season.

I grew up attending a Chinese non-denominational church near Baltimore, Maryland, where I learned to love the Lord and was baptized. During my college years at Princeton University, I was blessed through a campus ministry to meet many Christians who deeply loved Jesus. Through the influence of many older mentors and peers (including my future wife, Michelle), my faith matured dramatically. I served as an intern with that ministry for a year after graduation. My then-fiancée and I then joined a year-long work-study fellowship program at an Anglican church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Both of those experiences helped me develop a more holistic theology of embedded worship in both community and vocation. Shortly after getting married (and right before our son Luke was born), we moved to Bergenfield, New Jersey, walked into Calvary LBC, and found our church home and family for over six years. My wife and I serve our congregation together through music and children’s ministry, and this year I was also ordained as an elder. Pastor Dan Stenberg and Pastor Joe Skaret both encouraged me to carefully consider whether I had been called to pastoral ministry and seminary. I am beginning this spring semester by taking just a few credits, as I currently work as a technology teacher at a public middle school. I hope to increase my course load in the future, and am deeply excited about becoming more equipped to love and shepherd the Church together with the rest of these lovely students at LBS!
